Celebrate Earth Day by running through the woods, enjoying nature, and making new friends!


Join Ornery Mule Racing for our 8th annual race at the hidden gems of Veteran Acres and Sternes Woods in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The beautiful course features winding single track, rolling hills, blossoming spring flowers, open prairie, and pine forest
Earth Day trail races make a perfect goal race or last long run before Ice Age 50-mile & 50k.

Race Description

The course runs through single track, rolling hills that will challenge and help you.  All races will start together. 

The course is 5.2 miles a loop, so the 5 & 15 mile have some bonus trail.

5 mile runners do course once

15 mile runners do course 3 times

50k runners do course 6 times

There is one major aid station at the start/finish line. We will have a variety of goodies, including typical ultra food: cookies, soup, PB & J, Tailwind, soda, chips, pretzels.

  • We are working towards making this race "landfill free" so please bring your own water bottle.

  • 8 hours to complete the race!

  • No pacers, human or dogs.

Military Discount- we offer a discount for anyone that has served. Contact us and we will send a coupon code.

1st. 2nd, and 3rd Overall Male and Female will receive an award (They will be taken out of AG awards).

Race shirts - Register by March 7th to be guaranteed your size.

Late registrations: We order extra shirts & will make sure you get good swag for late registrations. You will be able to choose from the shirt sizes we have, and we may fill in with some Earth Day race hats.
